I don't really know how I feel too much on this topic, but I did put some facts together for you in favor of letting the species go extinct. Here they are---
California Condors are amazing birds but they're also one of the most expensive birds too. The US. Fish and Wild Life service spends $900,000 a year on condor preservation, it's estimated that $40 million has been spent to save the species. That's a lot of money to be spent on one species alone. There are known to be only 322 living condors today, including the 172 living in the wild.
Also, one must understand that these birds have been around for more than 10,000 years, flying all over North America during the Paleolithic era, (entire population became smaller to what it is today during the last ice age ,btw). These are massive birds that use to eat the carrion of large animals, such as mammoths. Maybe this species should be allowed to go extinct, let natural selection take its coarse. (?) who knows. That is what was going to happen in 1987 when there were only 23 condors left until in 1991 when captive breeding was put into action for the condors.
I think it would be really sad if the California condor went extinct, but my opinion is different than yours, I don't know if the condor is really worth saving but then again every life should be valued, even if it does eat dead flesh :)
(PS. sorry if I didn't make sense in giving a direct answer, I can never choose just one stance)
(Note: Condors aren't just dying from not enough food to sustain their large bodies, they're also the victims of poaching, egg collecting, habitat destruction, and even lead poisoning)
Yes, they are. They are beautiful and they are the strongest and biggest cats in the world, but they are also endangered.
Bamboos are totally worth saving! Panda's are specialists, this means they can only eat one type of food, and that's bamboo! Panda's are becoming critically endangered. Also, bamboo trees are absolutely magnificent! They can grow up to 41cm per day!
yes, they are worth saving.
