You are but one of several people asking about this bird. It is a Northern Flicker, a species of woodpecker that spends most of its time on the ground.

That black line? That's called a Malar Stripe, and is an identifying characteristic of the "Yellow-shafted" morph, also known by the nickname "Yellowhammer."

Out West, we have the "Red-shafted" morph, which looks pretty much the same but has a red malar stripe, and stunning red feathers where your bird's are a stunning yellow.
