The key difference between a 4-wire thermostat and other types is that a 4-wire thermostat requires four wires for power and communication, allowing for more advanced features like programmable settings and remote control. Other thermostats may require fewer wires and have simpler functions.
A thermostat can be found in many location for many things. Thermostats can be found in a house, a car, a coffee maker, an oven and many other things. What are you looking for a thermostat of?
it has two thermostats follow the water hoses one on right side the other is in the front
Line voltage sometimes varies according to how much load there is from neighbours and other users. When the voltage is high, the water heats more quickly so that the thermostat cuts out sooner, so the amount of energy used ia about the same. <<>> It is the difference in construction of the two thermostats. A line thermostat uses a bi-metal sensor to open and close the line voltage. The room temperature fluctuation has to be greater between the stat turning on to off, as the differential setpoint can not be regulated as fine as a low voltage stat. A low voltage thermostat uses a mercury switch that is operated from a spring that senses the room temperature. Low voltage thermostats do not control the line voltage to the heater but use a remote contactor to open and close the voltage supply to the heater. There is a compensator in the low voltage stat that can be set for the contactor's coil current. This way the temperature generated by the coil of the remote contactor is nulled and the thermostat only reads the room temperature. The differential setpoint on a low voltage thermostat has a finer setting than that of a line thermostat, so a more accurate temperature is maintained.
To effectively control the temperature in your home with one AC unit and two thermostats, you can set one thermostat to a lower temperature to activate the AC unit when it gets too warm, and set the other thermostat to a higher temperature to deactivate the AC unit when it reaches a comfortable level. This way, you can maintain a consistent temperature throughout your home by strategically adjusting the settings on each thermostat.
one is north of the other, and thousands of other differences
I wanted to add some details: Currently I have two AC units on the roof that share returns and ducts, but are controlled by two thermostats separated by 2'. Can I run both units off the same thermostat? It seams no matter how I set the thermostats one unit ends up running more than the other. But maybe this is a good thing? Yes, you can operate both units from one thermostat. The best way would be to use a two stage thermostat. Then a relay will have to be installed in one of the units to separate the control transformers.
Yes and no. Yes, there are two 'thermostats' on the vehicle, but only one is the main thermostat that controls the engine coolant temperature. This main thermostat is located at the front of the engine block and is built in to a water inlet housing that connects to the lower radiator hose. If you're doing preventative maintenance on the cooling system, THIS is the thermostat you'll want to replace. The other part that looks very much like a thermostat and is often confused with the main thermostat, is actually called a "water control valve". This water control valve is located at the rear of the engine block. This part doesn't really control the engine coolant temperature, and does not require periodic replacement like the main thermostat.
Thermostats, like other parts, just fail. That's why there are about a zillion of them for sale in the auto parts stores. Just pick up a new one, if you think yours has failed. FriPilot
Sunfires have located the thermostats in a couple of places. Basically, it will be where one or the other of the radiator hoses meet the engine block. My '96 has a note stamped into the block at the top hose that says something to the effect of "thermostat not here". Take a close look at yours.
To effectively control the temperature in your home with 2 thermostats for one AC unit, you can set one thermostat as the primary control for the AC unit and the other as a secondary control. Ensure that both thermostats are set to the same temperature to avoid conflicting signals to the AC unit. Additionally, consider installing zoning systems to better regulate temperature in different areas of your home.
Stabilize the room temperature and measure it at the thermostats location. Set the dial to the temperature that was measured and adjust the thermostats branch line output to mid point of the controlled device`s operating range. For example if the range is 3-15 psi set the stat output for 9 psi when it is at setpoint. While doing this do not stand near the thermostat for extended periods, the heat from your body will be sensed by the stat and throw off the calibration. In other words work fast.
At the engine side of the upper radiator hose, there is a small aluminum housing with two bolts in it. The thermostat is under that housing. This is also true of most other cars. You should replace the gasket, and tighten the bolts from 14 to 19 foot-pounds after replacing the thermostat. I recommend Stant brand thermostats. If you are planning to keep the car a long time, get the Stant SuperStat.
