Oil-based polyurethane and water-based polyurethane are two common types of finishes used for wood. The key differences between them are in their application, drying time, odor, and durability. Oil-based polyurethane has a longer drying time, stronger odor, and requires more ventilation during application. It also tends to give a warmer, amber tone to the wood. On the other hand, water-based polyurethane dries faster, has a milder odor, and is easier to clean up with water. It also dries clear and does not yellow over time. In terms of durability, oil-based polyurethane is generally considered more durable and long-lasting compared to water-based polyurethane.

What is the difference between white green and firecode drywall?

White board is 1/4" to 3/4" in thickness. Green board contains oilbased additives in the paper that provides moisture resistance. It's often used in bathrooms or high humidity areas. Firecode or Type "X" has different thickness and multiple layers of wallboard. Perlite, vermiculite, and boric acid are added to improve fire resistance. The differences are in what's added to the basic drywall, fire retardants and anti mildew products mainly.

How do you prepare canvass for oil painting?

There are different methods - the oldfashioned one, is to first stretch the canvas, glue it in with rabbitskin-glue, then put a gesso over it. Nowadays acrylic binder and gesso is much used, but this might not be a very durable procedure in the end (in house painting, everyone knows not to put oilbased paint over acrylic paint...). Adding caseine to the gesso can help.

Allow the Roland to rest on its back edge so that the front of the keys face upward. on the bottom front edge of the piano loosen 4-5 screws that hold the plate to which the keys are attached. once you've loosened this u shaped plate the top half of the piano will hing upwards, opening the piano completely. How do you adjust the sliding door on a 2000 Ford Windstar so it shuts flush?

These doors sometimes can be a pain in the ars to adjust. TAke it to the dealer or a body shop you are familiar with. Adding to this since I had a problem like this. I used a Dry Silicone Lubricant spray and sprayed the latches and all the rollers on the door and it fixed my problem with this. Don't use WD40 or another oilbased lubricant because it will just cause more junk to stick to them and make the problem even worse within a few weeks. Make sure it is a dry lubricant. Sorry if this is a really late answer there are no dates on the questions

Can you apply lacquer over spar urethane?

Look at label on can if urethane is oil based it should be fine. Think of it like basic chemistry. Oil and water dont mix, xlene based products are used to strip oil, so if ur using a xlene base over oil thats a no brainer. The urethane I use is a xlene base so I wld never use over oil. Im just not sure if they sell a oilbased urethane so check the labels

Can you mix water colours with acrylic paint?

No they are still oil paints, they have been made water soluble but are still not compatible with other water based media.__________________________________________________________________You can use water mixable paints (WMO's) over acrylics very dramatically. You can do the background and what ever else you want with the acrylics, let them dry completely, and wipe on a very fine layer of WMO linseed oil or my preference, walnut oil from M.Graham.Wipe off any excess oil. You want this to be very thin so it acts as a binder to the acrylics and makes them go on very smoothly. You are free to paint large areas of just small high lights with the WMO's. What ever you want. The paints will dry slower than the acrylics, but wash up with soap and water just like acrylics. For more discussion on WMO's and Walnut oil, go to the link below, WMO;sJudy Filarecki
