"Dont judge a book by its cover"
The one that most comes to mind for me is "Causation does not equal correlation." I have no idea who said it first, though. "Don't judge a book by its cover" "A mask of gold hides all deformities"
Symbolism is a dramatic movement in which the playwright distorts external appearances to portray deeper meanings
Yes appearances is always deceptive especially when it comes to a relationship. We always think that people who are a quite type, or even shy can fool a lot of people. Not all people who are quite or shy will be that. And this will be the look that they want others to see from them. Appearances is very important but if we always believe that when a person is quite, it doesn't mean that he is always quite to everyone else. From my past experience the man that I married told me that he is a quite type man, but I found out that his only quite with me not to everyone. His appearances kind a fooled me but then again I never let it bothered me anymore because I am his wife. So over all do not let appearances of a person fool you, there's a lot more that you must know when it comes to appearances.
This is defined as irony.
one person's interpretation of reality.
Shakespeare's quote "Clothes do not make the man" reflects the theme of appearance versus reality in his works by suggesting that a person's true character is not determined by their outward appearance or clothing. This theme is often explored in his plays, where characters may deceive others with their appearances or be judged unfairly based on how they look. Shakespeare challenges the idea that external appearances accurately reflect a person's true nature, emphasizing the importance of looking beyond surface impressions to understand the complexities of human character.
things are not always as they appear so don't trust appearances or judge by them
