It's not that u can't. It's just that it is not tge best idea. It has to do with the refridgerent that is in the cooling sytem and compressor and such. A general rule is that if it has to be laid down then when you stand it back up let it sit for twice the amount of time that it was left in the lying down position. There is a low and a high side in the cooling system. Basically it's liquid and then the gas part. It messes this up and get all mixed up.
