American Goldfinches will come to feeders, they're just picky about the type of feeder and the seed. Goldfinches like thistle or "Nyjer" seed best and they like specially designed cylinderical or tube shaped feeders with the holes below the perches so they tip upside down to eat. We have had a family of goldfinches coming to our feeder all summer. Goldfinches also like sunflower seed, the small black variety especialy.
