I believe you would need to be a citizen of the UK for 5 years or more, but you may not be accepted because of your age after the 5 year minimum timeframe expires, however, you can still join the Territorial Army, or Voluntary reserves in the other forces branches - RAFVR for the Royal Air Force and RNR for the Royal navy. Look on the British Consulate in the USA's website for visa infos, which has been made slightly more complex due to the EU membership of the UK, but has multiple benefits, such as being able to work/live in most EU countries with no need for a visa, and no border controls for countries on the continent.
Good luck sir, and I hope I have helped you today,
Josh R from London, England.
you had to be at lest 15 to 35
No, 36 is not too old to join the army. The maximum age limit for enlisting in the U.S. Army is typically around 35, but there are waivers available in certain circumstances. It's best to contact a recruiter for specific information about your situation.
You can enlist in the the Army, Army National Guard and Reserves until the age of 40, so you still have a few years to join.
