How sucssesfull was Stalin?

Stalin's economic policies in the form of the several Five Year Plans were mostly a success since they did build up the Soviet Union's industrial strength and capacity, which was their goal. His domestic policies could be said to be a success because they were designed to keep him in control of the country and they did just that. The problem was that the means used to achieve those successes were cruel, unjust and inhumane to large segment of the population and in a civilized country they would not be utilized.

Hmmmm, its bad enough having Stalinist Russia described as Communist.... The idea that Stalin was a Socialist is not factually correct. Let's be plain: Stalin was a Tyrant. A Totalitarian Dictator, no more, no less. I acknowledge Stalin was a leader of the USSR at a time of great turmoil, WW2 especially, and the sacrifices were great, but Socialism does not sit well, with me, at least, in the mention of his name......

He was rather successful in eliminating his alleged enemies, establishing a secret police that could threaten almost everybody, destroing the normal agriculture in the Soviet Union, developing heavy industry in the underdeveloped country in expense of millons of lives. His 'most successful ' action was that he could succeed V. I. Lenin, in spite of the fact that Lenin warned the comrades against him in his Testament.
