A kibbutz is a collective community of people who all live close together in their own "town". These are found in Israel. The word "kibbutz" is Hebrew for 'gathering' or 'clustering.' This should not be confused with a moshav, which is a similar Israeli town or settlement. A kibbutz, however, tends to be more collective and community-like than a moshav.
