The general concensus is that by the time of his death Henry was not a good man. In 1509 when he was eighteen and had just become king he could probably be classed as a good man as he wanted to do right by the country and also have fun with his new found freedom/power/wealth. This lasted up until the time when he decided to divorce Katherine of Aragon when he became incensed due to things not going his way with the ease that he expected. From this point on things got worse for Henry as he injured himself jousting so had a very painful ulcer on his leg which prevented him from walking and riding. Some even go so far as to say that he suffered some sort of brain damage after his fall and that this was what led to him becoming more unpredictable and ruthless.
