A person in the Royal Air Force (RAF) who flies planes is typically called a pilot. More specifically, they may be referred to as a Royal Air Force pilot or a fast jet pilot, depending on the type of aircraft they operate. Additionally, those who specialize in flying transport or reconnaissance aircraft may have specific designations related to their roles.
"Spitfires" were the main "fighter" planes. "Hurricanes" were important too, particularly during the "Battle of Britain". There were several other fighter planes too. There were also several types of "bombers" and other planes.

There weren't any 'Scottish' planes as such. The RAF has always been staffed by people from all over the UK.
This often happened if planes had been damaged during missions
At the start of Battle of Britain, Germay had approximately 2,600 aircraft om that front. The RAF had less than 600 fighters at that point.
