Princess Hononegah, also known as Hononegah, was a Native American woman of the Winnebago tribe and is best known for her marriage to Stephen A. Douglas, a prominent American politician and a U.S. senator. She was born around 1820 in what is now Illinois and played a significant role in the early history of the region. Hononegah's legacy is often linked to her contributions to the cultural exchange between Native Americans and European settlers during her lifetime. She is also remembered for her influence in the development of the town of Douglas, which was named in honor of her husband.
Hononegah died in 1847.
She went to the school I'm attending. Prairie Hill School District 133 in South Beloit, we have a video of her here in 5th grade. She also went to Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois. I know because her uncle randy used to be my neighbor and she went to school the same time as my sister.
