When did Roman Numerals cease to be used in common usage in Britain?

Latin and Roman numerals were still in common use in the Tudor period. The son of Henry VIII, king Edward VI was the first monarch to put the date in Arabic numerals on his coins in 1551, although the values were still in Roman numerals. The first books printed in English also occured during his reign. It is likely that Henry VIIIs dissolution of the monasteries and the creation of the Church of England had a huge impact on the increasing popularity and usage of written English and Arabic numerals and an aversion to using Latin and Roman numerals with their link to Rome and Catholicism.

Why did Catherine of aragon do wrong?

Catherine of Aragon did nothing wrong. At least, not that we know of. Before she was married to Henry VIII, she was married to his brother, Arthur. However, Arthur died of Tuberculosis and Henry became king. Because she claimed to have never had sex with Arthur, she was allowed to marry Henry. Following their marriage, Catherine and Henry made several attempts at having a male heir. However, there were many still-borns and miscarriages. They did have one male child, Henry, who died in infancy. The only healthy child they gave birth to was Mary, a girl. Henry refused to leave his position to a female and tried hard for a boy. However, Catherine got older and kept having miscarriages. At this time, Henry fell in love with Anne Boleyn, a daughter of a noble man named Thomas Boleyn. Anne Boleyn refused to go to bed with him unless he found a way to marry her. Henry VIII then decided to try and annul his and Catherine's marriage. He claimed that Catherine had lied about not having sex with Arthur, and now he was being punished for marrying his sister by having unsuccessful births. However, the Pope was not only related to Catherine, but so was the Holy Roman Emperor who had imprisoned him. Terrified for his life, he refused the annulment. Several more measures were taken to try and annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. Henry even had a trial for Catherine. Unfortunately for Henry, the hearts of the people were with Catherine and they believed he was bewitched by Anne Boleyn. Eventually, Henry VIII broke off from the Roman Catholic Church and founded the Church of England. He crowned Anne Boleyn, annulled his marriage to Catherine, and secretly married Anne.
