the queen mother was not Elizabeth the second because she married into the family and was born a commoner though she had the title of lady Elizabeth bowes Lyon from birth ladies who marry into the royal family and subsequently the husband becomes king they do not get a title as such they are queen by marriage not by right so the current queen is Elizabeth the second though if she had chosen too she could have chosen any one of her other names to be called by as Victoria did as she was born Alexandrina Victoria when she was born not Victoria
