There are many types of hazard in health and social care environments and these are:
Equipment, Toys in a poor state of repair, Incorrect storage of chemicals, Inadequate control of Infectious Diseases, Fire , poor working condition, Unsafe furnishings, Inappropriate furnishings for patient / service users, Inappropriate use of specialist equipment, Insufficient equipment maintenance, poor staff training, lack of security measures, poor building maintenance , pollution of air and or water and abuse.
Thse are the main potenial hazardin health and social care inviroment.

A hazard relates to anything that could casue harm to somebody, whether it be a service user or a member of staff. A hazard could be a substance i.e. medication. If its stored in accessable cupboards, in reach of children, this is a hazard as anybody could get hold of. A simple example would be rugs in a care/ residential home. A rug is a hazard as people could trip of the edges.
