The problems of the League of Nations?

the Leaguem of Nations did not have its own armed forces thus they had to rely on the Great powers to enforce its resolutions, keep to economic sanctions which the League ordered, or provide an army, when needed, for the League to use. However, they were often reluctant to do so.

There were multiple problems. I don't know an awful lot about this topic but I can give you the main problems.

Even though President Wilson suggested the League of Nation in his fourteen points at the Treaty of Versailes, the USA did not actually join the organisation. This Immediately weakened the organisation as possibly the worlds no 2 or maybe even no 1 power was not participating making the organisation weaker than what it could have been

Like America many countries simply chose not to join. The highest number of nations in the organisation at its peak was 58 I believe. Considering this was far more than half the countries in the world at the time, global representation, which was a primary aim of the league of nations, failed.

Also, unlike the UN today, the League of Nations never had a standing army. Therefore they could not intervene in disputes and the League of Nation's resolutions were comparable to friendly advice. They could not actually enforce their resolutions. Nations were simply not frightened of the League of Nations, mainly because they never had an army, if nations did not agree with the resolutions then unlike today when they have to accept that, many just did what they wanted to. An example of this was when Japan invaded China in the 1930s. The League of Nations condemned Japan, and told them to stop, but they had no power to actually prevent the invasion so Japan simply withdrew from the League of Nations and carried on invading China.

The League of Nations was also not impartial. They were against communism, which considering they were meant to be an organisation for world peace, they should have been considerate of certain beliefs of certain countries. This meant it was difficult for Russia along with many other communist countries to participate in the League of Nations.
