Yes, they are a rare mutation but I have seen them. I saw them in the area of Juneau County, WI. I believe them to be a blond color due to a lack of pigmentation from albinism. My daughter brought this bug to me and it looked exactly like any lightning bug and had the typical flashing lights after dark except the eyes were a pinkish tone and the rest of the body was a pale moth-like color. We put it in a jar for a little while to observe it, but later returned this beauty to where we found it. I believe it to be so rare due to the fact that like all albinos it only happens in a few genetic mutations. (Consider how rare albinism is in humans, etc.) M. Bliss
