Yes, they can eat ants, only in " Worst Case Scenarios " Like : You bought a slider and it didn't eat for more than 2 weeks, and you feed it an ant, and it likes it and wants more, sure. But if you feed it to your turtle as a diet, it may get sick, I have a R.E.S and I never fed it a ant, but I did research about this subject, so yeah, I hope I helped you!
PS : If you DO get a slider, and it doesn't eat for a week or two, don't get scared, they do that all the time in the first two weeks they live with you, try to feed it earthworms if it doesn't eat for more than 2 WEEKS.
