Your instincs are to swallow once you wake up, so there goes the spider! Whether or not you eat 8, we are not posotive of the exact number. Hope this helps! :)

People often sleep with their mouths open due to various reasons, such as nasal congestion, sleep apnea, or simply habit. When the nasal passages are blocked, they may resort to breathing through their mouths to ensure adequate airflow. Additionally, certain sleep positions can cause the jaw to relax and fall open. This can lead to dryness in the mouth and throat, which is often uncomfortable.

This is an urban myth. In order for a sleeping person to swallow a live spider there would involve many highly unlikely circumstances. There are no formal scientific or medical records of anyone ever swallowing a spider while sleeping.
A number of reasons; various illnesses, posture and sleeping position, dental reasons, etc. Those who breathe by mouth during sleep, for whatever reason, are naturally much more prone to this (during sleep, you produce less saliva, but also swallow less frequently, and it can build up and trickle out the corner of the mouth if one sleeps with their head on its side). If you snore, you likely drool a bit too, but it may evaporate before you wake and you'll never be the wiser.
You would hope not but apparently its about an average of 8 spiders per week *Average of none you mean. You can't swallow a spider without waking up, and if you were to swallow a spider while sleeping your mouth would have to be open (and facing straight up) very wide, and the spider would have to climb down its silk line perfectly into the back of your throat without touching your lips or tongue. The second it reaches your throat you would have to take a swallow and let it go down.. All in all, it just doesn't happen.
