Actually, this is not true. Without a body a tick cannot keep on 'sucking' the blood or inject poison into the host's body. When you see a tick try to remove it ASAP, before side affects kick in. The removal of the tick may leave its head but that's alright because, as I said before, the tick is un-functional. If you do happen to leave the head behind accidently then there will just be a small scab which forms and the head will eventually come out by itself.
