How do fireflies get their name?

Because they fly, and they light up, so especially before electric lights, it seemed like they were tiny flames in the air. :)

i think it is because they look like there bottoms are fire and they fly so probly that's why they fly ever think about it before maybe try to look up it is what i'm doing right now!

Fire flies are called fire flies because, when it gets dark their tails light up and glow.

I think fireflys are called fireflies cause they have little lights in their bottoms and when they light up their butts they look like little fires in the SKY!
