How do grasshopper breathe?

Grasshoppers are insects. Like all insects, they have a system of tubes and air sacks that carry oxygen directly from the atmosphere to the tissues. They don't have lungs, and they don't need their circulatory system in order to get oxygen to their tissues.

grass hoppers have slits in the sides of their heads like fish. depending on the type of grass hopper they also breath out of their nose like we do.
