The stick insect lives for approximately one year and then it dies unfortunately... But that's only the males the females live up to 18 months.
If well looked after.

Stick insect eggs take about six to nine months to hatch, possibly a little earlier if kept in a warm room. If the insect is well fed, kept clean and exercised regularly, it can live for as long as 1 year, 2 months and 14 days.
There are no known bugs that live in lungs. It is possible for a short period of time one could survive in a lung though not for long.
