Praying Mantises or Praying Manti. Or praying mantids :)
For what i know praying mantises are not deadly at all. They would not need venom to kill because they catch there prey in an iron grip so they can't get away. Then they kill them. From what i know is praying mantises are not deadly not deadly to large things such as a human, unless its 6 foot long, which is impossible.
it would be helpful if they did but daddy longlegs are too big for a preying mantis to eat
They are green with very long legs, and a small head. They are known for rubbing their 2 front legs together; making them seem to be praying (hence the name).
It's where the insects undergo a main change
No, female praying mantises engage in sexual cannibalism. They bite off the male's heads during copulation and that often causes the sperm to disseminate more vigorously, therefore benefiting the survival of the species.
There are several categories of mantises, macropterous (long-winged), brachypterous (short-winged), micropterous (vestigial-winged), or apterous (wingless). For those with wings, there are two sets, the outer wings that serve as camouflage and shield for the hind wings, which are more delicate.
Praying mantises exhibit several protective adaptations to evade predators. Their primary adaptation is their remarkable camouflage, allowing them to blend seamlessly with their surroundings, such as leaves and branches. Additionally, their triangular heads and long limbs can mimic twigs, further enhancing their disguise. When threatened, mantises may also display aggressive postures or feign death to deter attackers.
To accurately identify a praying mantis, look for its distinctive long body, triangular head, and front legs that are adapted for grasping prey. Praying mantises are typically green or brown in color and have a unique "neck" that allows them to turn their head 180 degrees. They also have large, compound eyes and are known for their predatory behavior.
