According to USA Today, The Daily Show averaged roughly 1 Million Viewers per night during 2003-2004.

During 2008 the New York Post reported that viewership held roughly 2 Million Viewers per night.

The Obama Interview held in October of 2008 drew in about 3.8 Million viewers.

Obviously for a television show that is on the air four nights a week, the average viewership will fluctuate from year to year and even month to month.

Currently, for the 2010 year the TV Nielson Ratings reported that the Daily Show is bringing in about 1.6 to 1.8 Million viewers per episode, with the Median age of the viewer being around age 35. It is also noted that Stewart does tend to appeal to younger audiences, though obviously with a Median age of 35 the show is certainly not exclusive to this age bracket.
