Ilyanassa obsoleta is a mud snail that is conidered an epifaunal species.
No it is a marine gastropod (snail).
gastropod and a mollusk
It has no backbone, so it is an invertebrate.
epifauna because they live on the bottom not within the sediments (infauna)
Benthic animals that lives on rocks, marine vegetation.
The animals that estivate are earthworms, bees, frogs, toads, hedgehog, snail, snakes, mud turtle, and lizards.
I have 2 mud turtles in my backyard pond with a dozen goldfish and small koi. The turtles are too slow to catch the fish but sure wiped out the snail population...
Infauna are organisms that inhabit the substrate of aquatic environments, such as the ocean floor or riverbeds, living within the sediment. Examples include clams, worms, and certain types of crustaceans. In contrast, epifauna are organisms that live on the surface of the substrate or attached to other surfaces, such as rocks or plants. Examples of epifauna include sea stars, barnacles, and various types of algae.
In a box, or in a plastic container. EDIT- I personally think the box is better. It is easy to punch holes in and it has a soft texture, like mud.
No a snail can't live in a snail.
find a containier and put in lots of grass leaves and twigs. snails love mud and dirt. put a small containier of water in, not to deep though, they love to bath.
Yes, they do hibernate, but it can be prevented by keeping the tank at around 25C and spraying with warm water.
