Yes, here are many species of stick insects in the Amazon. I have just returned from a trip there and saw three types, a green, a brown and brown and white speckled stick insect. The guide told us there are many different species of stick insect in the Amazon.

It can change completely to it's surroundings mostly leaves and is famous foe being 'the unseen insect'. However, while stick insects are masters of disguise, they cannot change colour at will. A stick insect can be a different colour to another of the same species due to being in a different environment, having a slightly different diet and some species will slowly change colour when moulting, but they can not change colour like a chameleon can.
