My wife had a spider bite lanced a few days ago. She was bitten on the lower leg while on the job (works at grocery store). The spider probably came in on the produce. Her leg swelled up and she ended up with a good sized lump and bruising right down to her toes (her toes and foot looked blue). She went to see the family doctor who told her based on the pictures that she took and what he observed that he thought that it was an Australian white tail spider. He recommended that she see a surgeon. She saw the surgeon a week and 1/2 later and the bite was lanced. He squeezed the coagulated blood and what not from the spider out, it was right down to her muscle. They packed it and she goes in to see a health care service daily to change the dressing and back to the doctor for a follow-up on Friday. She is off work for a week but on the road to recovery.

You can. Peroxide is probably not going to help a whole lot with the "spider bite" part, but it could help keep the wound from becoming infected.

Is it ok to swim with a spider bite?

Swimming with a spider bite is generally not advisable. If the bite is infected, exposure to water could worsen the infection or introduce more bacteria. Additionally, if the bite causes swelling or discomfort, swimming might exacerbate those symptoms. It's best to consult a healthcare professional before engaging in any water activities following a spider bite.

Can the bite of a spider give you powers?

The idea that Spiderman obtained powers by being bitten by a radioactive spider is pure fantasy; this cannot happen. The bite of a spider (or the bite of anything) does not give you powers, and should be avoided, since it may do you harm.

Can bactrim be used to treat a spider bite?

i had 2 spider bites (brown recluse) and was bitten a few years before that by the same kind of spider. I got prescribed Bactrim and it was not only effective, it went away with no lancing or cutting on the wound. The first time i was bit, they lanced it and made it worse, that ended with emergency surgery on my forearm so i wouldnt lose my hand due to the swelling cutting off circulation in my hand. So take BACTRIM as a better and less painful treatment.

Should you give benadryl for a spider bite?

If you think you have a spider bite...you should still see a doctor. Recently people have been mistaking spider bites for a serious and possibly fatal MRSA infection. I was given 50 mg Benadryl (diphenhydramine, generic, is available in sleep aid sections as well as antihistamine sections OTC) after a black widow bite and it did help a lot. If it is a brown recluse spider bite, you should see a doctor. People die from both of these types of spider bites.
