Most sponges are marine, but there are some freshwater varieties
Freshwater sponges are delicate in structure, growing as encrusting or branching masses. They usually appear greenish because of the algae that live on them. Freshwater sponges may attain a volume of more than 2,500 cubic centimeters (150 cubic inches). Marine sponges are natural bath sponges (with living cells removed) that we all are familiar with. They actually are the oldest and simplest animals that have been living on earth for millions of years. Marine sponges are filter-feeding animals because all adult sponges are sessile and can't move around benthic surface. Marine sponges have no true tissues or organs, just constructed with layers of cells even without nervous system. Marine sponges come in different but striking colors, bright red, purple, yellow, and brown, etc. These colors and some are toxic as well may help them defend from sponge eating invertebrates and some fishes. Some other small marine organisms, fishes, and microscopic organisms often call marine sponges their homes. There are no terrestrial sponges because they are filter feeders obtain from water particles.
Sponges play a role in filtering pollutants from water, which can benefit human health by improving water quality. They also provide habitats for marine organisms, supporting biodiversity and ecosystem resilience. Additionally, some sponges produce compounds with potential medicinal uses, such as antibiotics and anti-inflammatory agents.
The first sponges were natural. They are some of the oldest animals to ever live on earth.
some one stupid, like your mom
Yes :) they are most common in marine environments though
Sponges are aquatic animals that live in freshwater or marine environments. They can be found attached to rocks, reefs, or other hard surfaces on the ocean floor. Sponges are filter feeders, meaning they pump water through their bodies to collect food particles.
Examples of Precambrian animals are Brachiopods (aka lamp shells), Anthropods like spiders and crabs, jellyfish, sponges, and squids. There were also flora and fauna, of which 70% of their population was wiped out (Precambrian Mass Extinction). Most of the animals in that era were marine, soft-bodied organisms.
Personally i wouldn't kill marine animals, but some people will to get food or to have fun
Nope, there are some that are asymmetrical. Like sponges.
Cows have endoskeletons. An endoskeleton is found inside the body and is composed of mineralized tissues. Some sponges and symmetrical marine animals also have endoskeletons.
Most marine animals swallow their food whole. This is because they do not have teeth. But not all marine animals swallow their food whole. Some have small teeth.
