Zebra Swallowtail butterflies or Eurytides marcellus (latin name), are generally black with white stripes. They do have small red spots on the lower wings, towards the inside. I have seen other variations of this though. (Some the white is a light bluish or greenish in color but you really have to look good to see it.) The markings on the underside are pretty much the same with the exception of a line of red that runs across the lower wings, almost in a J form. Some also have small blue spots on the top side of wings, lower section. The body is white on both sides with black down the center. I am not for sure what the difference is in the male and female. All have beautiful long tails. Wing span is 2 1/2 - 3 inches wide. Spectacular sight to see!

they only like to eat polen from flower like bees they only live up to 9 years if they live longer they might've eaten to much polen and if so they can be poisonous and get crazy and eat ladybugs and moths
