Oh dear .........Cockroaches are horrible scuttly insects which can carry salmonella and cause Asthma in children, you WILL know when you get roaches. You WILL see roaches, they normally move really quickly when you turn on the light for example in the kitchen at night , they are normally more active at night , but you will see them by day -they tend to hide away in nooks and crannies during the daylight. You WILL smell them ! - yes a large infestation has a definite ROACH-Y odour , musty and a bit like almonds. You WILL see Cockroach skin moults , little brown cases where the roach has outgrown its skin and left it behind for you to treasure.............. You WILL see roach poo which looks like pepper dust , black specky flecks covering things again in the kitchen where they love to scoff waste matter , unboxed foods , cereals , un-protected foods anything really! Another thing you may see if you deny them foods for weeks ( they can survive without food for ages ) they may take to swimming in your sink..........they can't survive without water.I work in the property refurbishment business and we find roaches in the sink and baths regularly if the place has been empty for a while. PS - Dont tread on them .........their eggs are so sticky that if you tread on a pregnant female by squashing them you can transfer fertile ready to hatch eggs to your apartment ...............:(
