Ribs and sternum
The Axial Skeleton is composed of five parts 1) the human skull 2) the ossicles of the middle ear 3) the hyoid bone of the throat 4) the rib cage 5) the vertebral column.
The axial skeleton is composed of 80 bones, including the skull, the ossicles, the hyoid bone, the rib cage, sternum, and vertebral column. The pelvis, upper & lower limbs and shoulder girdle make up the Appendicular skeleton.
The bones of the thorax, including the rib cage and sternum, protect the heart, lungs, and major blood vessels like the aorta. They provide structural support and help shield these vital organs from potential injuries.
The axial portions of the human body are the head, neck, and trunk. This includes structures such as the skull, spine, thorax, and abdomen. These parts function to support and protect vital organs and facilitate movement and communication.
The bones that form the longitudinal axis of the body, called axial skeleton. it has 3 main parts , skull, vertebral column and the bony thorax. Appendicular skeleton consists with bones of the limbs and girdles. ( upper limbs, lower limbs, pelvic girdle and shoulder girdles)
The Trunk Muscles include, 1) those that move the vertebral column ( most of which are posterior antigravity muscles); 2) anterior thorax muscles, which move the ribs, head and arms; 3) muscles of the abdominal wall, which help move the vertebral column and most importantly form the muscular natural girdle of the abdominal wall.
The components of the Skeletal System are the bones, the ligaments, and cartilage.
Cardiac muscle cells are located in the walls of the heart. They are responsible for pumping blood throughout the body.
