Snails have shells upon their backs and have one "foot" or belly. Land snails have two pairs of tentacles. The long top pair is for seeing. The shorter bottom pair is for smelling and feeling. The slime is very, very important to them. Their slime helps them to crawl over things. They can even crawl oveer a razor and not get hurt. Snails make perfect pets.

A snail's eyesight is not good. It can probably only tell the difference between light and dark. Land snails have eyes on the top of their stalks. Freshwater snails have eyes at the bottom of their heads.

They have pale bodies, large antennae and various colored shells.
