Heteroptera is a group of about 40,000 species of insects, sometimes called "true bugs". These are included in the order Hemiptera, comprising around 80,000 species, which may be called bugs.

Informally the word bug tends to include all insects and also Spiders, tarantulas, woodlouse, scorpions and other little arthropods.
