What is Gnathochilarium?

Basically, it is a lower lip. Gnathos means pertaining to the mouth and chilaria are the 6th set of appendages in arthropods. Spiders have them to eaither side of their mandibles (mouth)- as do horseshoe crabs, but insects have lost them. They are thought to have been fused to create the lower lip- or gnathochilarium.
