What is the best insecticide?

I've had success with Wilson's Woolly Whacker.

I wanted something that I didn't need to wash off when I wanted to eat.

It does not leave a residue. You have to soak the plants all over and top and bottom on leaves. It kills all insects it covers, but it won't kill any it doesn't wet.

That's an opinion question but would depend on target pest and site to be treated. Many broad spectrum pesticides are not labelled for Spiders, also if treating ticks or bedbugs which are very hardy, there is much debate. When treating for some pests like fleas, you would want to add a growth regulator and if an indoor treatment may be limited to concentrates only since they penetrate deeper into carpet. For some pests like flies or snails, there are few choices and when there are the active ingredient despite the brand name may be the same.

Insecticidal soap is a good bug killer for the garden. The control in question may be applied either as a home-made remedy or a store-bought product. It will get the job done in a cost-effective, environmentally friendly way.

When selecting an insecticide for any edibles the one thing to remember is that the word "Non-Systemic".

Non-systemic means that the insecticide will only be a coating instead of absorbed into the plant. This means you can eat the fruit/vegetables that have been sprayed after a rinsing.

Bayer, Ortho, Monterey, and Sevin (among others) make great "non-systemic"insecticides.

banana peels mixed with some olive oil works well. i was told this by my Mexican gardner and to my suprise it actually works!
