Centipedes might all die out, then the birds who eat centipedes might only have 1 food source left, they will all fight over that, so when the other food source dies, the birds will dies due to no food. Then the animals who eat the food will die and etc. This causes an unbalanced ecosystem.

Ironically, this photo is of a centipede not a millipede. Millis have two paired sets of legs on each segment ( for a total of four legs per segment). Millipedes are detritivores--they eat mainly decaying plant material--and are important for helping build healthy soil. And healthy soil=healthy plants. Millipedes are therefore good guys and should be respected. Centipedes are predators, and should also be treated with respect as many species can inflict a nasty bite.
