The name for that is Larva.
The life cycle of a yellow and black striped caterpillar typically involves four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult butterfly. The caterpillar hatches from an egg and feeds on leaves, growing in size until it forms a chrysalis. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar undergoes metamorphosis and eventually emerges as a butterfly with yellow and black stripes.
An insect goes through four stages of development: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The egg hatches into a larva, which grows and molts until it forms a pupa. Inside the pupa, the insect undergoes metamorphosis and emerges as an adult.
Sorry to jump straight onto this as a newbie, but it got me thinking... The problem with metamorphosis seems to come from the assumption that the process evolved in the same order that it occurs. for example, just because the creature becomes a chrysalis then a butterfly, doesn't mean that the chrysalis evolved before the butterfly. to propose a hypothetical example... A tadpole becomes a frog without the need for a chrysalis. The frog continues to evolve, so that the difference between frog and tadpole increases, and the metamorphosis becomes more complicated. As metamorphosis becomes more complicated, the vulnerability of the organism during the process makes it advantageous for it to be better protected. The individuals with, for example, tougher skin, (at least during the process)are more likely to survive. The tougher skin becomes exagerated until it is distinguishable from the rest of the organism. once the chrysalis has evolved, the extent of the metamorphosis can evolve until it entails a complete decomposition. Any holes in there?
it hatches the same as other eggs just walk around until it hatches
A chrysalis often looks like a leaf that has been folded around and hung upside down. You can see pictures of a chrysalis online at places like The Butterfly Site.

Butterflies lay eggs and attach them to leaves. When the egg hatches, a caterpillar emerges. The caterpillar will shed it's skin numerous times as it grows, until eventually it turns into a pupa or chrysalis by attaching itself to a leaf and shedding it's skin for the final time. This is the stage where metamorphosis takes place. Having reached it's adult stage, a butterfly emerges from the chrysalis.
