A yellowish-brown to brown caterpillar with small blue dots is a Spicebush Swallowtail. They form a shelter by joining two ends of a leaf together with their silk. As the leaves dry, they contract and the silk pulls the ends together, forming a capsule. Spicebush Swallowtails are commonly found near spicebush, honeysuckle, and mimosa.
It sounds like the buck moth. They are black with yellow dots all along their body. The dots are in twos down their back.
The caterpillar you are describing is likely the Milkweed Tussock Moth caterpillar. It is known for its fuzzy appearance, orange dots along its body, and a prominent yellow stripe or dot on its back. Be cautious as they can cause skin irritation if handled.
the Buff-Tip Moth caterpillar has black stripes, yellow stripes, and fine white hairs or spikes coming off of it. These are generally about 2.5 inches long and eat oak, maple, elm, and hazel leaves.
Very Fashionable :-) * Possibly a yellow-headed blackbird?
The yellow-bellied sea snake has black on the top. It has a yellow belly. It also has black dots.

Hi, that is the Black Swallowtail Butterfly and it is beautiful. I always plant parsley and dill just so that I have these butterflies in my garden each year. You will enjoy them when they hatch out. Margaret
I have seen black ones with red dots. There are also yellow ones with black dots. These tend to be smaller. [Netherlands]
