Your description could fit hundreds of different species, but if the spider is fairly large and has a "flat body" it might well be a Huntsman spider, of which there are several kinds. Try searching in Google for "huntsman spider" and then looking at the images that come up.

I believe this spider friend of yours is a jumping spider, although there are lots of other spiders out there who are yellow, grey, black, orange and brown.
Often called a zipper spider or writing spider.
I don't know what kind it is but,I just found one in my kitchen and I don't know if it's a baby or mama.

A grey and black spider, it has a red dot under each leg. I dont know what kind of spider it is though and am not having any luck finding it on the net! But i caught one earlier to get a close look and then let it go. Its a fairly large spider too.
A spider that has a red upper body and legs and a gray lower body is a sowbug killer spider.
I'm not sure how the spider uses it's food web. We are all part of some kind of a food web.
