She doesn't !... Butterflies simply 'glue' their eggs to the underside of a leaf - where they stay until the caterpillars hatch. Once she's laid the eggs, her life is over anyway, and she dies shortly afterwards !
To create a natural and a realistic environment, simelar to what the butterflies eggs would experience in the wild. Also, once they hatch into caterpillars, it will enable them to feed upon the leaves.
