Fireflies usually come out at night a little after sunset.
Whether or not fireflies will appear on Long Island in New York this year is unknown. They were at one time found in huge numbers there but due to development and light pollution, they are disappearing quickly.

Yes, we see the fireflies in southeastern Idaho at Downata Hot Springs resort the middle of May to middle of June each year. They are located in our marshland that is supplied from warm water from our hot spring. Our camper and guests enjoy watching them each year.
