On August 26, 2010, I noticed a large dragonfly perched upside down on my porch ceiling. It wasn't moving, wings still...and the next morning, August 27, 2010, when I went outside, it was still there hanging upside down. It's not dead or trapped in any kind of web, the only conclusion is that it is sleeping on my porch ceiling! I took 2 pictures of it...very cool! I'm wondering how long it will stay there for?!
In Korean, the dragonfly is called "잠자리 (jamjari)," which translates to "sleeping place." This name is derived from the belief that dragonflies are protectors of sleep and bring good luck to sleeping individuals.
