Fish control mosquitoes by preying on their larval freshwater-dwelling stages
A pond filter is a device used for clearing a pond of micro-organisms. It is a must have if your pond has fish and they are having problems.
A small livebearing fish that does not eat mosquitoes. They are a pest around the world where they have been introduced because people mistakenly believed that they would control mosquitoes.
A garden fish-pond needs an impervious lining.
A pond pump helps circulate the water properly. If it is not used, the water would sit still and get slimy. If there are fish in the pond it would help keep the water clean.

You don't really need to measure the water in a birdbath, just put some in a couple inches deep.
Yes it/they can. Care should be taken to let the temperature of the water the fish is/are in slowly equalise with the water in the pond before releasing the fish otherwise it/they may die from temperature shock. I used to place a bucket containing the fish in its/their original water beside the pond and slowly replace a cupfull of water at a time over about 30 mins or so before releasing the fish into its new home.
Fish at stock ponds are used to being feed by humans plus there is a large population of them in each pond. This increases your chances at catching said fish.
Ornamental ponds tend to become mosquito breeding grounds. You can keep the mosquito larvae population under control by stocking the pond with bright, exotic fish or with less exotic small native fish which are not as susceptible to bird predation. Another option would be adding a pump to agitate the water - mosquitoes will not breed in moving water.
Yes, sandstone is generally safe for a fish pond. It is a natural rock that does not leach harmful chemicals into the water, making it suitable for aquatic environments. However, ensure that any sandstone used is free of contaminants, and monitor water quality regularly to maintain a healthy habitat for fish. Additionally, consider the potential for sharp edges that might harm fish.
Very calm and non-territorial fish. I would suggest gold fish called Comets. They are inexpensive since some are used as feeder fish. They come in a variety of colors so some may think that you have more Koi in your pond and since they are gold fish, they can live in cold water and if your pond has enough room, they will survive cold snaps during the winter.
