Why are ants bad?

if ants as in the animal/bug then it could be that some can cause painful stings and bites, army ants can destroy almost anything, it can take as little as one scouting ant to tell the colony that there is food there and a lot more.

Who said ants were bad? Sure the fire ants are pretty bad but just don't get in their way. They are not like the Indiana Jones ants :D

Ants as we all know are known for biting which isn't much but it varies with the species. Some have stingers the inject venom that can paralyze or be fatal but they often live in very remote areas.

Addendum to above answer:

Ants can also be harmful in that they can and do contaminate food, certain types of ants make nests in some of the worst places imaginable (like between sheets if paper) and as the above answer states, some ants, particularly fire ants, tend to have a painful bite.

Ants are pest because they are always looking for something to eat and when you leave like food on the floor and don't sweep your going to have a lot of ants and that's why they are pests
