There are fireflies found in California, however they are rarely seen. This is because fireflies only eat snails and California lacks a native snail population and the damp areas where snails live.
No, I'm sure they don't even live in the same environment.
I know there are lots of them here in California which is in the United States.
I live In Southern California, and there are little beetles here with black wings and red bodies. They eat the roots of my grass and kill it. :(
Lightning bugs, or fireflies, are found throughout most of the United States, particularly in warm, humid areas. They thrive in fields, meadows, forests, and near wetlands where there is ample moisture. Regions with temperate climates, such as the Midwest and the Southeast, are especially abundant with these bioluminescent insects during the summer months.
1st alot is is a lot and there are over 100,000 bugs for EACH person in the entire world, so I know its a great thing that bugs cant think like us or else everybody could be dead.

We all live with bugs. They infest even the cleanest homes. Even the cleanest skin and hair are home to thousands of microscopic bugs. How do we live with bugs? We couldn't live without them.
Actually there is no difference between lighting bugs and fireflys. People call the little beetles differently depending on the area of which people live.
I live on a farm and every night I go out by the woods and watch the stars. Sometime in early June last year, there were like 1,000,000 lightning bugs(NO JOKE) in this one corner of the wood. It was like a 4x4 sp[ot and like 20 feet tall. It was amazing but I cant seem to find an explanation! It wasnt anywhere else on the farm either??? Please cure my curiosity!
