Well it depends. If you are qualified enough then yes. For example, you may do a course in years 11 and 12 which is the Certificate III in Nursing, this course will greatly boost your chances because you have a good background. If you then go on to University/College and study Nursing a furthermore 4 years then once again you are really boosting your chances due to your great background of doing Nursing. You can then go to TAFE and study a further Nursing course and then apply to the hospital you wish to work at, and you will be asked to complete a test, if you do good, you will be accepted.
