Doctors and lawyers are positions that require a license, so if you get the appropriate degree and pass the licensing tests you can become either. Some of your patients or clients may prefer someone without earrings, but some may prefer your attire. Much depends on the geographical area you practice. You could expect a very conservative area to be more of a problem than a very liberal one.
