How do you help co-workers improve their performance at work?

One way is to talk to them about a project that has been recently completed, ask them leading questions like how did you manage on this project, was the end result for the Company achieved, how may they have done it better to have less of the fallout come back on their fellow workers, do you have all the tools you need. The other tool is to have your HR dept develop a better evaluation form that will clearly identify areas and people that need improving on Have a talk with them about their performance. Your co-worker is a professional, they can handle constructive critisism. If their performance is effecting yours, you need to talk to your boss. As a professional, it is not good for your career to have people who hurt your performance working around you.

If by chance I have a co-worker who needed help, I would be his/her friend first and not so bossy, by that attitude he/she will not feel embarrassed or intimidated. Eventually I will have a chance to talk to him/her about his/her performance and help. I can advise him/her to open up to his/her immediate superior to discuss how he/she can improved his/her performance. But if he/she don't want that, I can advise her to be punctual, attentive in his/her job, stay focus at all times, and be willing to learn always.
